[Sad Report] LuLuLun Precious White 32 sheets - Maybe getting 7 Sheets would work better?

Image result for lululun precious white

It has been a long time since I blogged, but I am happy to share a couple of great news in life!

1. I got confirmed in my new job!
2. I finally voted my country's current government out of the parliament!
3. I got another bunch of cosmetic products from Japan! ^^
4. I received my JLPT N3 results and I am on the 98.xx percentile!

I think that has summed up major parts of my absence. lol

As per my previous post, I have tried LuLuLun's precious red sheet masks! I absolutely adored these masks so I thought: "Why not I give precious white a try?" and so I grabbed a box of it!

Before buying, I also asked my Japanese colleagues on their feedback and they said that the mask worked really great on them so I hurried myself to grab a box and have it delivered by Amazon JP!

The mask comes in either a packet of 7 sheets, or a box of 32 sheets! The box basically looks as following image!

The box of 32 sheets could at least last you a month if you are using 1 sheet of mask per day! For those who don't put on sheet masks on  a daily basis, it could probably last you months and sometimes you might wonder if they would turn moldy after a month's usage (like, nobody wants that, right?).

Since I am currently living in Kuala Lumpur, known for not just the twin towers, but the crazy hot weather and humidity, I've decided to ask my colleagues that have used them in Malaysia, and I received an advice to keep the box in the fridge

IN. THE. FRIDGE??

As surprised as I did because I never placed skincare items in the fridge before, I wanted to experiment a little bit.

So what I did was:
1. Using the mask for the first two weeks without putting them in the fridge.
2. Putting the mask in the fridge after the first two weeks.
3. Use the mask directly on my face after taking them out from the fridge on the following two weeks.

Disclaimers:
1. I do not have a specific period of the month that will bring a lot acne to my face. They come whenever tf they wanna come because I don't get periods monthly.
2. Results may not be 100% accurate since I don't really know my hormone levels at each specific point of this 'experiment'.

The results?

During the first two weeks, I realized that there are a couple of flaws on the product.
1. First couple sheet masks felt kind of dry compared to the Precious Red masks I had (maybe the serum got to the bottom) - One solution is to cover the box properly (ensure no leaking) and flip the box upside down.
2. My skin does not feel as moisturized as compared to LuLuLun Precious Red (I'm a sadgetthi).
3. Pimples popped around my face, especially at the edges of the mask. I do not understand why.
4. The cover started to worry me because it's just a thin layer that you kind of glue them down.

On the following two weeks, things got a little better!
1. My skin feels more moisturized!
2. Putting masks in the fridge isn't too bad (it helps to contract pores!)
3. The inflammation parts of my cheeks are less obvious (maybe it helps with cooling your skin off too?)

Thoughts?

Packaging: 3/5
  • The good thing about their packaging is that they create less plastic waste because there are less packaging for each mask - more environmental friendly!
  • The less-good thing about the packaging would be that you will be required to make sure it is properly sealed or else it may turn moldy (for my colleague's case, it did happen to her).
  • As there is also a large amount of masks stacked on top of each other, the bottom sheets are more moisturized compared to the top sheets (so flip them over from time to time!)
  • The size fits just nice in my fridge's cheese storage area (which is great!), not too big, not too small.
Moisturizing effect: 3.5/5
  • Compared to LuLuLun Precious red, it just didn't work as well.
  • Works better after putting in the fridge, though!
Main Effect (Aging Care + Translucent): 2.5/5
  • My skin definitely is still far too dull to be looking translucent after a month (lol)
  • To be honest I did not feel a lot of effect on this one.
Price: 5/5
  • LuLuLun 7 sheets are already affordable, and this is even cheaper (let's not talk about shipping) if you get the chance to purchase in retail stores!

Overall: 3.5/5 (pls forgive my math)

My Feedback to LuLuLun?

Dear LuLuLun, I love your sheet masks, but here's my suggestion that I hope could make your product better.

If your masks are going internationally (outside of US and JP), especially to countries that are humidly hot (or even for Japanese summer), try using these covers! They work well on wet tissues, so it would probably work well for the 32-sheet masks too!

Also, another feedback from me would be that the masks are a little too small for people who have a large face. I really wished that every inch of my face could be covered properly while I won't need to breathe without a small part flopping on and off my nose (but that is a small issue) ^^; It would be great if the sheet masks were just a little wider horizontally.

Sincerely,
Jin

Extra comments:
  • Perhaps if you wish to try different kinds of masks, 32 sheets are not recommended. I would suggest alternating between different types of masks! Which perhaps, if you like LuLuLun, you can consider alternating between different types of 7 sheet masks!

That's all for today! Pardon my unorganized writing style and thank you for reading! >m<

Until next time!

LuLuLun Precious Red Sheet Mask from Japan!

Image result for lululun precious red

I've finally found time to write!

And after so many months have passed, I've started to work in a new agency ^^

Today, I am giving a review on LuLuLun's Precious Red sheet mask!

LuLuLun is a very popular sheet mask brand in Japan!

The reason why it is so popular and winning cosmetic rewards is that their sheet masks are of high quality, and yet being pretty affordable!

I very recently purchased a box of 40 of the white version, and a pack of precious red version (7 sheets) from Japan.

I tried to use the 7 sheet pack on a daily basis before I head to bed, but on the 5th day I started to fall really ill and stopped using them for a week T_T

... but after recovering from my 40 degree (or 102.2 Fahrenheit, for your reference) high fever, I have finished using the 7-sheet pack and hence I'm writing a review today ^^

What I think about the sheet mask?

  • In terms of size
    • In terms of size, as compared to the Korean masks that I've used in the past, LuLuLun's sheet masks are small.
    • If I am taking innisfree's it's real squeeze mask for comparison, innisfree's mask could cover my entire face but LuLuLun's leaving quite some parts of my face being exposed outside of the mask.
    • Then again many Japanese has small faces, so I don't think LuLuLun expected to have foreign people with big faces like me to use their product lol
  • In terms of moisturizing power
    • In one pack of the sheet mask, it has 7 thick cotton sheets fully soaked in the moisturizing serum!
    • After removing the sheet mask upon 10 minutes of application, I fold the cotton sheet and pat the extra serum onto my face and there are still excess serum that I even applied it to my arms and legs before heading to bed!
    • Upon waking up on the next day my skin still feels pretty fresh! It feels even better after I simply wash it with tap water ^^
  • In terms of smoothness it gives to the skin
    • I definitely like LuLuLun's sheet masks compared to innisfree ones! My skin stayed supple and smooth throughout the whole week, and even my relatives that hasn't seen me for a months thought my skin condition improved, even though I was clearly sick LOL
    • Comparing it with innisfree's masks, I felt like I didn't really need a lot of moisturizer with LuLuLun's sheet mask as well!
  • In terms of anti-aging
    • Well, my skin did stay supple and definitely not dry at all!
    • My skin could turn flaky when I work in air-conditioned conditions, and even when I was working right under the AC-ed room, my skin stayed strong, not kidding!
  • In terms of application
    • As compared to Korean sheet masks, LuLuLun only requires 5 to 10 minutes of application!
    • Although they asked me to relax as I apply my sheet masks, I usually apply the sheet masks as I work on the laptop in the evening, right before going to bed.
  • In terms of packaging
    • The packaging of the 7-sheet package is pretty thoughtful as it can be resealed, but I have concerns about the 40-sheet's packaging because I am not too sure how much it could handle the non-stop opening and closing of the packaging.
  • Overall thought
    • Personally, I would rate it a 4.9/5!
    • The only bad side about it is the size, if it is a bigger sheet it would have been perfect!
    • In the LuLuLun USA site, the 7-sheet pack is at USD7, but in Amazon JP, the price is less than 500 yen (5USD)!  In Malaysian ringgit, that is about RM2.6 per sheet mask if we are not considering about the shipping fees!
    • If it is the 40-sheet pack, it is currently 1728yen in Amazon JP, which is only costing approximately RM1.50 per sheet mask (again, shipping fees aside). So yes, it is definitely very affordable if you are purchasing it in Japan!
    • I think it is a quick boost of hydration towards your skin that is long-lasting.
    • It also keeps your skin moisturized for the entire day, you don't even need to do the double fisting challenge since your skin is already feeling great all-day long!
    • It would also be a great idea to use the sheet mask when you wake up so your skin is feeling super great before applying makeup!
    • Would I buy it again? Definitely! I have plans to visit Japan soon, but first, I'll make sure to finish my stash of sheet masks!
I hope the above is sufficient for you to consider about trying the sheet mask yourself!

Of course, everyone's skin conditions are different, so it may work better for you, or maybe it may not. Perhaps this mask may also suit more Asians as it's a Japanese brand? :)

Anyways glad to be back and see you again!

Comelyco Sheet Mask

Enjoy the breeze
Hello everyone!

Last year, I bought 40 pieces of sheet masks at great discount from an online store and haven't been using them much until two months ago, because the expiry date was soon!

So I googled up a lot of information about using masks, and the concept of Double Fisting caught my eye.

Since I bought 40 sheet masks and they were going to expire in a couple of months, I was like "Why not trying that for two weeks too?" and so I did!

I finished using the masks up and threw the packaging away, but the sheet masks were from this brand called Comelyco! Below are the images I got from the internet and they are the ones I used!

I got this one that says Kelp

Image result for comelyco mask deep ocean
And another one that says 'Deep Ocean Water'

Because staying hydrated is so important for my skin, especially working super long hours under the AC at full blast (since my university years, and now, even in the office), I thought of getting masks that would give my skin the amount of hydration it has lost.

The Kelp one has the functionality to moisturize and calm the skin, while deep ocean water is purely working on moisturizing. I got 20 pieces of them each (gave some to my mom and cousin), but I had enough to apply two masks on a daily basis!

My mask routine is simple! For the first week, I tried 15 minutes of mask after breakfast (around 8:30am), and 15 minutes after shower after work hours (by then, it's usually around 10pm). Then, for the second week, I put two sheet masks consecutively for 30 minutes.

People often relax when they have a mask, but I usually would still browse the internet, or color something digitally, so that isn't entirely relaxing. But I think it's pretty good if you can take out some time for yourself, maybe asking some questions to yourself and think about life, or do some self-exploring!

The results?
For the first week, I feel that my skin is smoother, and my skin on my nose doesn't seem to peel off as it would at usual times! I don't see my acnes disappear, but my cheeks were definitely feeling nicer to touch. Also, at least, there were no new breakouts. My makeup doesn't seem to be cakey too, so yay!

As for the second week, I actually had a couple of tiny pimples around my nose and hairline. I honestly preferred my results from the first week than the second week, so I guess it is really unnecessary to put two sheet masks consecutively for half an hour.

My rating to the product? I would give it a 4/5. Because I got them at a great deal, but I'm saddened that I got new pimples. Not to mention, sometimes I am not used to the feeling of having something a little sticky (or slimy?) on my face _(:'3J_)L

Would I be on  #TeamDoubleFisting? To be honest, I would! I won't say that doing it for a short time period would bring you the magic of making your skin to a complete beauty, but there were definitely some improvements (because I get new pimples here and there every few days and week one was great!). Though, masks can be costly in a long run to some so it might not be the wisest choice for your wallet. But if you have enough to spend on your skin treat, then why not? :)
