Heroine Make - make lasting base

Say hi to my Masato bear!

I have always been a fan of affordable Japanese cosmetic products, and today I am sharing you this product from heroine make!

Some of you may have known that Heroine Make is like, really, REALLY popular with their mascara, but this time, I'm sharing their makeup base!

In Isehan's official site, it's sold at 1000 yen. However, I bought it at a pretty nice deal in a drugstore at about 750 yen (About RM30?) because I've been hearing that using a makeup base will do magic to your skin.

I've never used a primer or a makeup base before, but on the day of purchase itself, I also tried on different types of primers (that doesn't have color-correcting features) and I really preferred this one from heroine make, so I bought it!  ^^

HOW I USED IT:
On a day where I feel the need to wear makeup (yes, I don't wear a full-face makeup every day because it's very time-consuming) such as attending an interview, going on a date, meeting up with friends (I actually don't bother to wear makeup if it's with my best friends because heck they won't even be bothered LOL) or attending certain events, I will have my general skincare routine as follow:

1. On the night before, wash my face with an exfoliating cleanser
2. In the morning, wash my face with a normal bubble cleanser
3. Apply the first bottle of toner I could grab (I have plenty)
4. If time permits, apply a sheet mask; else, ditch this step
5. Spray the face with oil-control spray and pat gently

Then it's time to move onto makeup!

This makeup base from heroine make has some color on it, but the coverage isn't strong. I applied a thin layer over my face, but used more on my oilier areas.

This product also keeps your skin matte and controls oiliness, which is one of the reasons I bought it and used more heavily on my T-zone and eyelids (I haven't received my eye primer yet weep).

After that, I resume with my usual makeup routine in this order: eyebrows, concealer, liquid foundation, eye shadow, eye liner, blush, finishing powder (sometimes I skip this step because powders aren't my friend), then a makeup-fixing spray, and walah! 45 minutes of life wasted. whatamidoingwithmylife :)

RESULTS
I have used this product for four occasions so far to see if it works every time.

Usually, without using the base, my makeup will start to fall off with some touch-up required in about 4 to 5 hours, half of my eyeshadow turned really dull, my eyeliner seemed to have a setting of 20% opacity (graphic designing puns intended), and the only thing that worked well was my blusher lol.

HOWEVER...

With heroine make's base, my makeup from 10am surprisingly stayed pretty well on the areas I have applied it, even if it was already 6:30pm, I can only see my eyebrow color faded (but I didn't apply the product on my eyebrow so lol) and my eyeliner didn't fade as much as compared to me not using a makeup base. It's about 70% opacity for my eyeliner. I only needed very minimal touch-up by using a brush/sponge across my face without applying additional foundation/powder to make my makeup looking more even. ;)

*Opacity: The lower the percentage, the more transparent that layer is. Which means, I can't see sh*t if it's 0% because it's transparent.

Some questions that you might want some answers before trying this:
Q1: Did my skin turned oily?
A1: It actually did, but with my same makeup routine, my skin turns shiny after only two hours. With this product, my skin looked shiny after 5 hours or so, but with blotting paper and some touch-up it's OK!

Q2: Does it really keep your makeup matte?
A2: It does give a matte feeling, even though my products (except my semi-matte blusher) weren't matte. I wouldn't call it a 100% matte feeling, but on my areas with my semi-matte blusher, it definitely looked matte. ^^

Q3: Can I buy this in Malaysia?
A3: In the past, you can't. But now, you can! I've seen this product in Watsons and some Guardian outlets now. I am not too sure about the price because I haven't finished using mine.

Q4: Does your skin feel dry or horrible after removing it?
A4: Nope! I usually use tissue (lol) or makeup wipes to remove a large part of my makeup, then wash my face with Nivea's makeup remover, and wash my face again with my cleanser! My skin didn't feel dry at all.

Q5: Did you have new breakouts right after/ after a day or two using this product?
A5: It's a no too! Trust me I am very happy about this. Though I have to agree that it does not make your pimples disappear like magic, but at least I don't see new ones coming out. With my usual makeup routine without it, I could swear that I can see at least two to five small pimples popping around.

So, my verdict: 4.6/5
- Because it says to make things long-lasting, it definitely didn't mean lasting throughout the entire day but I do see improvements compared to the times I don't use it.
- Plus points for matte
- more plus points for some coverage
- also plus points for some oil-controlling
- BONUS POINTS FOR NO NEW BREAKOUTS

I would love to use this product again, but I also think that I should give a chance to other primers as well (after this bottle is finished, of course. Unless someone sends me a bottle)!

Have you used this product? Did it work for you as how it worked for me? Let me know! ^^

See you next time! ☆
