Having traveled to Japan recently, throughout different seasons I realized that my skin would start react differently despite using the same toner!
I've always relied on Hada Labo throughout Autumn until spring, and have been recommending this brand to many of my female colleagues for a couple of years.
Until they came up with more and more varieties - so many of us didn't know which to pick anymore!
Here's a list of the Hada Labo that are commonly found in Drugstores, and things that you should take note to decide on which would suit you the best!
- The main function is to hydrate your skin
- Suitable for Normal/ Combination / Oily skin
- Keeps your skin soft and supple, contains ingredients that improves absorption
- Does not contain alcohol
How to Pick the Perfect Hada Labo toner? - Selecting Your Hada Labo Lotion Based on Skin Type
My lifesaver in Japan during cold weathers |
Having traveled to Japan recently, throughout different seasons I realized that my skin would start react differently despite using the same toner!
I've always relied on Hada Labo throughout Autumn until spring, and have been recommending this brand to many of my female colleagues for a couple of years.
Until they came up with more and more varieties - so many of us didn't know which to pick anymore!
Here's a list of the Hada Labo that are commonly found in Drugstores, and things that you should take note to decide on which would suit you the best!
1. Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion [LIGHT]
Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion [LIGHT] |
- The main function is to hydrate your skin
- Suitable for Normal/ Combination / Oily skin
- Keeps your skin soft and supple, contains ingredients that improves absorption
- Does not contain alcohol
2. Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion
Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion |
- This also works to hydrate your skin
- Suitable for Normal and Dry skin
- Compared to the LIGHT version, it feels more sticky during hot times (summer), but I personally use this one during winter (because my skin gets super dry)
- Also doesn't contain alcohol so you can use it along with other skincare!
3. Hada Labo Premium Hydrating Lotion
Hada Labo Premium Hydrating Lotion |
- This also works well for skin hydration!
- More recommended for Normal and Dry skin
- It works really well for keeping your skin hydrated despite how much you sweat
- Quite sticky, so it will feel super icky for oily skin users since it'll only make your skin feeling more oily
4. Hada Labo Whitening Lotion [Rich]
Hada Labo Whitening Lotion [Rich] |
- This functions more for whitening than to hydrate the skin.
- Suitable for Normal and Dry skin
- Has 3 types of hyaluronic acid plus skin-whitening ingredients (let's be honest, most Asians would like to look more white for reasons that we all know).
- If you want to keep pale while keeping your skin hydrated this can be a good option
- A little sticky so it isn't suitable for oily skin users
5. Hada Labo Whitening Lotion
Hada Labo Whitening Lotion |
- This is also for whitening and hydrating purposes!
- It works well for Normal, Dry and Oily skin users
- Repairs dried skin white hydrating
- Keeps your skin bright and supple
- You can use it with other skincares too!
6. Hada Labo Premium Whitening Lotion [Rich]
Hada Labo Premium Whitening Lotion (Rich) |
- This works pretty nice for whitening and hydrating too
- More sticky than the Whitening Lotion, hence only suitable for Normal and Dry skin users
- It has Tranexamic acid that fights with dark spots
- It's also said that this balances skin tone
- Also contains vitamin C and E so it works well for brightening too
- Definitely still has hyaluronic acid so you can still use it for hydrating
7. Hada Labo Premium Whitening Lotion (Light)
Hada Labo Premium Whitening Lotion (Light) |
- This also works for skin whitening and hydrating
- Suitable for Normal/ Combination/ Oily skin
- Technically it works like the Premium version but less sticky
- It has Tranexamic acid that fights with dark spots
- It's also said that this balances skin tone
- Also contains vitamin C and E so it works well for brightening too
- Definitely still has hyaluronic acid so you can still use it for hydrating
8. Hada Labo Lifting + Firming Lotion (Rich)
Hada Labo Lifting + Firming Lotion (Rich) |
- Has collagen - keeps your skin youthful!
- Suitable for Normal and Dry skin
- This is also something I use when I am in Japan during winter
- Contains antioxidants for good skin
- It has Elasglow and Fermented Soymilk that fights wrinkly skin
- Sticky, so it's not recommended for oily skin users (maybe you can use it in cold weathers)
9. Hada Labo Mild Peeling Lotion
Hada Labo Mild Peeling Lotion |
- As written on the bottle, 'Tamagohada' means 'Egg-like skin' so yes, it works to make your skin smooth
- It can be used for Normal/ Combination/ Oily skin
- It contains Gluconic Acid that helps removal of dead skin cells that will make your skin smoother
- It's a little acidic so it also helps reducing stuck pores and thin lines
- Not recommended for people who has dry and sensitive skin since it is acidic it's probably easier for your skin to react to it
10. Hada Labo Hatomugi Blemish and Oil Control Lotion
Hada Labo Hatomugi Blemish and Oil Control Lotion |
- The last kind (and the newest as far as I know) that I could find in drugstores in Japan and Malaysia
- Hatomugi is a popular ingredient in Japan that fights acne and irritated skin.
- If you have oily skin/ acne-prone skin, try this!!!
- It also has hyaluronic acid that locks moisture into the skin to keep your skin soft
- Has alcohol content - may not be suitable to mix with certain skincares routines
Hope the above helps!
Until next time!
